Overview

The Mekong Delta, known as The Nine Dragon river delta as it is formed by nine rivers, located in Southern Vietnam. It lies immediately to the west of Ho Chi Minh City, roughly forming a vast triangle stretching from My Tho in the east to Chau Doc and Ha Tien in the northwest, down to Ca Mau and including Phu Quoc Island. This Delta is considered as a water world where boats, houses, and markets float upon the numerous rivers, canals and streams that crisscross the landscape like arteries.

It takes tourists about 3 - 6 hours to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta by car. Among provinces, visitors can explore the distinctive delta landscape by motorized river boat, row boat, and horse cart.
